Rattlesnake is now available for purchase here in my web shop, on Payhip and on Ravelry. The pattern is automatically 20% off through Sunday, August 16.

For more detailed pattern info, visit my my shop. Be sure to check out all the sample photos below, as well as some of my testers’ photos at the bottom!

Rattlesnake uses DK weight yarn and features a colorwork yoke with saguaro cacti and other desert motifs. My family and I love to visit southeast Arizona for its stunning deserts and vast mountain landscapes, which formed the basis of inspiration for this design.

Of the five Rattlesnake samples that were made, three use Less Traveled Yarn, which is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Sarah, the dyer behind Less Traveled, dreams up gorgeous colorways also inspired by the beauty of Arizona, so her yarn is a perfect pairing for Rattlesnake. She is listing kits on her website, which will include the three pictured here, as well as a fourth option for you to create your own! The stunning sample above features Amber and was knit by Gabriella Roberts.

The sample above was knit by Sara Aviles and uses Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio DK. Green and orange forever! 💚🧡

The hat above is hand crocheted and purchased from Easy Living Hats. I have several of these hats and cannot say enough good things about them!

The sample below was knit by Rafa Peterson.

Below are the Rattlesnake projects for some of my testers. To find out more about them, click the link on the picture, and underneath the photo gallery I have listed their yarn choices. Sarah of Less Traveled Yarn generously offered a discount for all testers, so several of them knit with her yarn.

From top left to right and moving through each row of photos: 1 Lau used Lovehanddyed Corriedale yarn. 2 Angelique used Lana Grossa Merino Una. 3 Freya used a mixture of White Gum Wool, Magpie Fibers Swanky DK, Mary Gavan Yarns Hoodoo and Deep Dyed Yarns Still (all merino). 4 Katy used Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Juicy DK, Spincycle Dream State and Less Traveled Yarn’s exclusive 2020 VKL colorway. 5 Ann used Less Traveled Yarn DK Granny Smith (MC), Colarabi (CC1), Devil’s Bridge (CC2) and Punch Drunk Grunge (CC3). 6 Anjanette used Madelinetosh DK 7 Beth used Less Traveled Yarn in the colorways Lipsmackers (MC), Hot Pants (CC1), Do Me a Solid (CC2) and Amber (CC3). 8 Rebecca used her own hand-dyed yarn, WildWestDye. 9 Karen used Katia Merino-Lino. 10 Daniela used 100% cotton. 11 July used Baby Bee Sweet Delight and Yarn Bee Chloe. 12 Shannon used Berroco Vintage DK, BrittyRaeKnits Lovely DK, Daizie Knits Dewy DK, The Plucky Knitter Plucky Sweater DK and Yarn Geek Fibers Maven DK. 13 Jennifer used Madelinetosh Sport and Neighborhood Fiber Co. Are the colors below fun or what?! Do they take you back to childhood–playing with primary colors and playdoh? I will wear this one when I’m feeling bold and adventurous. 😜

I whipped up another size 3 sample using a mixture of Old Rusted Chair DK and Tweed DK. The colorways are High Rise (MC), Beachcomber (CC1), Scatter (CC2) and Citrus Pop (CC3). Cuff and hem contrast are omitted, and length is shortened an inch.
